Every year, Bay Area Manufacturers Association (BAMA) hosts a Scholarship golf tournament to support STEM and manufacturing education. This event highlights one of BAMA’s primary initiatives, which is to support education through scholarships and STEM programs. The BAMA Scholarship program helps provide financial assistance to deserving high school students and post-secondary students from Hillsborough and Pinellas counties who wish to attend college, or a technical education center to pursue a manufacturing, or technology-related career.
On April 23th, BAMA’s 27th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament was held at the Feather Sound Country Club in Clearwater. The event was a success with more than 150 participants. The event also provided attendees a great opportunity of networking.
Scholarships will be awarded on June 21st during the BAMA Annual Awards, Scholarships and Board election meeting at Crowne Plaza Westshore in Tampa. To register to this event go to http://www.bama-fl.org/event-2619107/Registration
Since 1992, more than $170,000 has been awarded in scholarships for continuing education at the college level, as well as STEM high schools, robotics summer camps, vocational training for hands-on skilled jobs, and manufacturing day students tours. The scholarships funds are distributed through the Education Foundation of Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
In addition to its regional support for Manufacturing, BAMA has also been a strategic partner with FLATE in promoting manufacturing education. Since 2013, BAMA has partnered with FLATE for Manufacturing Day-related efforts and has been one of the key sponsors for the FLATE summer robotics camps that play an integral role in stirring middle and high school students’ interest in robotics and learning about its applications in high-tech manufacturing.
